Battery Management

The SUNLOAD battery management system
Solar power for mobile applications is preferably stored in electro-chemical cells, i.e. rechargeable batteries. Lithium-ion accumulators have proven expedient as energy stores for mobile applications because they are capable of storing a large amount of energy in a small and light unit.
Lithium-ion accumulators are highly-complex products that need to be used correctly. If used or stored incorrectly, lithium-ion accumulators can cause serious damage (risk of explosion). To ensure application safety and a long service life of the lithium-ion accumulator, the accumulator must be kept within the allowed operating parameters (temperature, power, current) during the charging and discharging process.
This is ensured by the SUNLOAD battery management system. Various safety levels ensure that the accumulator is switched off automatically as soon as things become critical. Sensors constantly measure the temperature of the accumulator electronically. Various safety switches protect the accumulator against critical conditions. This means that in many cases where it is used incorrectly, destruction or premature aging of the accumulator can be prevented.
